Viewport shutters are normally installed on a vacuum chamber CF flange behind a viewport to protect against viewport coating in HV & UHV deposition applications. Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering offers a complete line of viewport shutters for use in high vacuum and UHV systems. Our ISO 9001:2015-Certified viewports utilize a shutter to effectively shield the viewport surface and prevent the build-up of deposition materials. Vacuum Viewport Shutter Features
Our standard viewports are designed for use with PV V&E's stainless steel vacuum viewports. Custom sizes and finishing options such as electropolishing are available upon request. Standard vacuum viewport shutter features include but are not limited to:- 10⁻¹⁰ torr range
- 304 SS flange material
- CF flange sizes available 2.75 to 8 inches
- Maximum bakeout temperature 150°C
Vacuum Viewport Operation
These shutters are mounted behind a viewport to prevent the build-up of deposition materials on viewports while in the closed position. The knob allows you to adjust the viewport and keep the flapper open in a fixed position. They use a single plate shutter with a 90° opening rotation. An integrated PRM-133 rotary motion feedthrough provides smooth actuation and a positive locking screw. - DN 63 CF (4.5" OD)

Viewport Shutter Advantages
Our shutter design features an overlapping baffle that completely shields the viewing glass when the shutter is closed. This prevents excess build-up from accumulating on the vacuum viewport, allowing the operator to have direct visual access into a vacuum chamber without compromising the integrity of the vacuum. These shutters prevent build-up that can result in costly window replacement. Viewport shutters also save time in vacuum processes as you don’t need to pause vacuum processes to clean material deposits on viewports. Viewport shutters can be fitted to most existing vacuum systems.Use our Add-a-Doors to create your own system load lock. Specialized materials, including sapphire are also available.
