Vacuum Chamber Viewport BenefitsVacuum chamber viewports allow someone to observe the interior of a vacuum without disrupting vacuum processes. ISO and CF viewports are one-piece assemblies for quick and secure installation. Vacuum chambers can feature special materials and coatings upon request, such as sapphire and AR coating, for improved shielding capabilities. Kodial and Quartz viewports offer high reliability, great hermeticity and the ability withstand most high pressure and high temperature applications. Applications include making measurements of emissions, monitoring wavelength effects or initiating chemical or physical actions.
Vacuum Viewport SpecificationsSpecial materials and coatings, such as sapphire and anti-reflective (AR) coating, are available on request. Glass CF flanged viewports can withstand repeated bakeout cycles to 400°C and vacuum pressures to 10-11 Torr. Quartz CF flanged viewports should not be baked above 200°C. NW and ISO flanged viewports can withstand 200°C bakeouts and pressures to 10-9 Torr. Custom sizes are also available.
Kodial (7056 Glass) ViewportsKodial glass, or borosilicate, is primarily composed of silica and boron trioxide. Kodial glass is known for having very low coefficients of thermal expansion. This makes kodial glass more resistant to thermal shock than standard glass. Borosilicate glass is highly popular in laboratories due to its ability to handle extreme temperature changes without cracking.

Fused Silica (Quartz) ViewportsFused silica viewports are manufactured from high purity crystal silica that is heated and then quickly cooled to maintain a transparent surface while removing impurities. Fused silica offer high chemical purity and resistance. Fused silica also provides high transparency from ultraviolet to infrared spectral range and high radiation resistance. Quartz and fused silica provide superior ultraviolet performance and resistance to thermal shock.
