Vacuum Motion and Manipulation Components Features

  • Flexible operating orientations
  • Stainless steel and aluminum materials
  • Temperature range of -200°C to 450°C depending on parts and materials
  • Wide variety of feedthroughs, such as rotary motion and linear vacuum

Linear Motion Vacuum Feedthroughs

Linear motion feedthroughs are standard positioning devices that can be used in vacuum chambers, load locks, and more when no rotational movement is required. Feedthroughs are actuated manually, pneumatically, push-pull, or rotationally depending on your compatible vacuum system.

Features
  • Made from the highest-quality materials
  • Components can readily be customized
  • Compatible with ultra-high vacuum systems

Rotary Motion Vacuum Feedthroughs

Manual and motor actuated rotary motion feedthroughs provide 360° continuous rotation and may be used to define a polar axis for a sample or probe or to actuate a mechanical device. Motion vacuum feedthroughs are frequently bolted to XYZ manipulators and are most commonly used for shutter actuation and related applications.

Features
  • Components can readily be customized
  • Withstands UHV bakeouts
  • Provides 360° continuous rotation.

UHV Linear and Rotary Motion Vacuum Feedthroughs

Linear and Rotary motion vacuum feedthroughs are typically used for sample introduction or manipulation processes. Complete your vacuum system with HV Differentially Pumped, UHV Bellows Sealed, and UHV Magnetically Coupled literary rotation feedthroughs. Feedthroughs are normally manually actuated.

Features
  • Linear force up to 15 pounds depending on the feedthrough
  • Maximum bakeout 200°C depending on the feedthrough
  • Vacuum range from ≥10⁻⁵ to ≥10⁻¹⁰ mbar depending on feedthrough

Wobble Sticks

Wobble sticks allow you to control the z-axis and tilt movement in an existing vacuum system. PV V&E's standard WBL and Rotary Z & Tilt Wobble Sticks permit z-axis and tilt movements for increased mobility in high vacuum or UHV environments.

Features
  • Flexible installation orientations
  • Manually actuated drive
  • Welded stainless steel construction

Alignment Gimbals

Manual XY-adjustable alignment gimbals are frequently used as an inexpensive method to align systems and actuate sample transfers. Establish precise and repeatable angle alignment between two flanges in your vacuum system with Nor-Cal Products, Inc dba Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering alignment gimbals.

Features
  • +/- 5° X/Y adjustment
  • 1.5-inch ID bellows
  • 5-year guarantee
  • Maximum bakeout temperature of 200°C
  • Operating temperature of 20°C
  • Roller bearing pivots

Z, XY and XYZ Motion Manipulators

Z, XY and XYZ motion manipulators allow for sample transfer and positioning in ultra-high vacuum systems. Each motion manipulator can be customized to meet your needs. Motion manipulators are compatible with PV V&E vacuum chambers, load locks, and additional vacuum system components.

Features
  • Maximum bakeout of 150°C
  • Stainless steel materials
  • XYZ, XY, and Z motion manipulators are available

Differentially Pumped UHV Rotary Seals

Differentially pumped rotary seals provide 360º of continuous rotation through the vacuum wall of your UHV system. Graphite-impregnated Teflon seals isolate our two-stage differential pumping design. A worm drive fine adjustment option is available for more accurate angle adjustment.

Features
  • Flanges: CF, tapped holes, one rotational and one stationary
  • Maximum bakeout of 150°C
  • Motion: 360° rotation, two-stage, differentially pumped with 360° Vernier scale
  • Options: fine adjust worm drive “-W,” digital counters, stepper motors, and other sizes available
  • Vacuum range of ≥ 10⁻¹¹ mbar (UHV)

Sample Transfer Systems with Loadlock

Easily transfer samples from rotary/linear feedthrough to the sample doc inside your vacuum chamber with a sample transfer system. Sample transfer systems are available in standard sizes and can be custom-made to fit your needs. Standard sizes range from .5 to 3 inches.

Features
  • 5-year guarantee
  • Adapts to most goniometers and precision gearboxes
  • Excellent sample plane repeatability
  • Larger samples may be introduced through smaller ID tubing
  • Transferable intrinsic direct heating
  • Transferable thermocouple optional

Utility Hats

Find standard or custom utility hats for cooling lines and excessive wires in your sample docking systems. Utility hats can be used with a differentially pumped rotary seal and are available in standard and customized configurations.

Features
  • 10⁻¹⁰ torr range
  • 304 stainless material
  • Bakeable to 450°C
  • Electropolish finish
